Welcome to the Sydney University Medical Society
WHO WE are
The Sydney University Medical Society (SUMS) is the representative body for all Doctor of Medicine (MD) students enrolled in the University of Sydney Medical Program. We have a long and proud history as Australia’s oldest medical student society dating back to 1886, when we were established by the founder of the Sydney Medical School, Professor Anderson Stuart.
1200+ Medical Students
Our Society is made up of over 1,200 postgraduate medical students from a diverse range of backgrounds and life experiences, from science, engineering, arts, music, teaching, law and more.
We advocate for the wellbeing of students, run hundreds of events each year, and aim to foster a sense of community and friendship.
